A Start

Hello!! Welcome to my blog. I'm not sure yet if I'll advertise this anywhere or if anyone will ever read it, but if you are, I'm glad you came for a visit.

My name is Kristina, and I'm 26, and a newlywed of 8 months. I've always struggled to keep my weight in line, but since the wedding its starting to get out of control. Last night when I attempted to try on the five pair of summer pants (i.e. pants too short for anything but flops or summer flats), I bought myself in October not a single pair came even close to buttoning. So I decided, its time for action.

I'm not ridiculously overweight, but I'm uncomfortable in my own skin, and that's not ok with me. I'm 5'7" and 167lbs. At my wedding I was around 150lbs. My goal is to be 140lbs someday, although I really struggle to get past that 155 mark. At my heaviest, after my semester abroad in Spain I was 180lbs, and I don't want to end up there again, but I fear I'm on my way.

So, why am I on here? Why put this out to the "world" to read about my weight loss goals? Because I need help! I need motivation. I feel like I have been dieting on and off forever now and I need to get it off, and keep it off.

I've tried a few different things. Sparkpeople.com is great for learning about what you take in compared to what you should be taking in. But I can't keep myself motivated on there. I've tried and failed quite a few times. Don't get me wrong, it works fantastically for a lot of people, so don't let me discourage you.

After my semester in Spain I did Weight Watchers on my own, meaning I had a book and counted my own points but didn't go to meetings. I think I'm going to try that again. I wish I could, but I can't afford the meetings right now, but if I can get myself sticking to the points I think it will help.

I need to get active too. I was doing pretty good in January, until my gym closed. I have a membership to Planet Fitness and in my town there were two, one regular and one express. The express was awesome. It was less crowded, offered circuit training, and had a stretching area. Now that its closed there is only the big gym with nine million people, lines for machines, no place to stretch, and no circuit training. My motivation is shot, and I haven't been since.

It's spring in Maine, which means that there is still snow on the ground and its still 30 degrees out, but I'm hoping as we get into April I can get outside and get some exercise. I just need to find my motivation again.

I promise, not every entry will be this long. But if you are still with me, I ask that you help push me through this. Yell at me when I say I'm going to be active and I'm not. Don't let me off the hook. I would LOVE ideas for healthy meals, and new exercises. Anything you can do would be great, and hopefully it will also help others who are reading this and looking for some motivation as well. :)
